Penelec Commits to $37 Million in Upgrades for DuBois Area, Armanini Says
October 30, 2026
HARRISBURG – Penelec has committed to $37 million in upgrades for system reliability following a stakeholders meeting convened this week by Rep. Mike Armanini (R-Elk/Clearfield) for residents of Treasure Lake and DuBois.
“I’ve heard for some time from friends and neighbors frustrated by frequent power outages that affect their ability to work, study, provide meals for their families and sleep comfortably. It is especially concerning for those with medical conditions,” Armanini said.
At Armanini’s meeting, Penelec engineers shared information about the causes of outages and committed to investments starting next year. Some of those investments would allow crews to reroute electricity across the system when outages occur.
Customers who are affected by outages from Penelec, a FirstEnergy company, can submit loss claims by emailing claims@firstenergycorp.com. They will need to provide their full name, address, phone number, account number, date/time/duration of the outage, description of what was lost/damaged, estimated value, and photos/receipts.
Further questions and information about resources can be directed to Armanini’s office at 814-375-4688.
