WHAT: The House Republican Policy Committee will discuss rare-earth elements (REEs), minerals which used in electronics, clean energy, aerospace, automotive and defense. While China has the highest reserves of REEs, a Penn State University study revealed the existence in Pennsylvania streams of the most sought after heavy rare-earth elements.

WHO: State Reps. Mike Armanini (R-Clearfield/Elk) and Dallas Kephart (R-Clearfield/Cambria) will host the hearing, which will include testifiers from Penn State and two of the country’s leading energy explorers.   

WHEN: Tuesday, Aug. 22, 10 a.m.

WHERE: River’s Landing and Event Center, 139 W. Market St., Clearfield.
